MT

Uniforms are chosen with deference to current professional trends and the OSCE Dress Code outlined in the CMTO Examination Candidate Handbook. Uniforms must be worn for all practical classes, clinics, and outreaches.

  • Uniform T-shirts and golf shirts are purchased at the Mohawk College Campus bookstore (Room C068). Order as many as you need to ensure hygienic practice.
  • For classes scheduled in the lab, uniform T-shirts or golf shirts are required, unless otherwise indicated by your professor. The golf shirt is required for outreaches and clinics, unless otherwise indicated by the supervisor.
  • Long sleeve t-shirts are not permitted underneath uniforms while students are practicing skills.
  • Black scrub pants are required and can be purchased at any uniform supplier of your choosing. Yoga pants and leggings are not acceptable. Students must wear socks and closed toe/heel, athletic shoes (any colour).
  • Jewellery must be modest. Jewellery on the hands, wrists, and forearms is not permitted.
  • Hair is to be clean and worn up or tied back to eliminate potential contact with the client. Caps or hats are not permitted in lab / clinic.
  • Nails must be short, well-manicured, and free of polish or dirt.
  • Students must follow scent awareness guidelines, as outlined in section 6.6.
  • Students must come to lab / clinic well groomed, clean and hygienic.
  • Students are responsible for ensuring that all linens in their personal massage kits used in labs are laundered on a regular basis.

Failure to wear the uniform specified by the Massage Therapy Program can result in the loss in professionalism and participation marks. Students who do not comply with the dress code may not be permitted to participate in practice, or may be asked to leave the lab / clinic facility. This will result in the student being required to make up any missed practice hours missed during lab sessions or clinic shifts.

Students are expected to dress in attire that is suitable for the workplace while on campus and for all classes other than lab or clinic sessions.
