Professional Certification and Regulation Process

GUIDELINES FOR PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION
Canadian Certification
Graduates of the Cardiovascular Technology Program are eligible to apply and write the National Certification Examination for Cardiology Technologists administered by the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists.
Exam application forms as well as the exam hand guide and up-to-date information regarding fees can be accessed through the CSCT website @ http://www.csct.ca.

Graduates of the Massage Therapy Program who meet minimum requirements for overall Grade Point Average (GPA) and professional practice hours are eligible to apply to take the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) certification examinations. The two-part entry to practice examinations include a multiple-choice question (MCQ) format exam and an objectively structured clinical examination (OSCE).

PHARM TECH
REGULATION PROCESS
To become a regulated pharmacy technician in Ontario, one must:
- be a graduate of a CCAPP program;
- preregister with OCP (Ontario College of Pharmacists, the licensing body);
- complete a 3 month internship with OCP called “Structured Practical Training” (soon to be replaced with PACE);
- write and pass a provincial jurisprudence exam through OCP;
- write and pass the two part PEBC Qualifying National Exam for Pharmacy Technicians (Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada);
- obtain liability insurance;
- complete Declaration of Good Character, including providing a current police check and disclosing any post-secondary academic offence;
- and then register with OCP to become “licensed”, renewed annually.
Details, timelines, and specific fees for this process can be found on the OCP website, approximate total of $2500 for a graduate to become regulated. Annual registration fee with OCP will then be approximately $400. To pre-register and/or register with OCP, applicant must be a permanent resident or on a work visa. The Mohawk program and OCP process outlined above, are specific to Ontario only, to work in another province as a pharmacy technician, one must research the education, credentials and registration process specific to that province.
The names and birthdates of successful graduates will be submitted by the Pharmacy Technician program to the Ontario College of Pharmacists and the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada, for purposes of potential registration only. A consent for this submission will be obtained by the program for each student.
