My patients entrusted me with their health, and it is my duty to take on my responsibilities for my actions and choices. Being responsible lowers the likelihood that I will make mistakes and guarantees that I give patients and their families with the best care possible by ensuring that I adhere to protocols, administer appropriate therapies, and offer pertinent interventions. As an RPN providing care independently and an RN student learning new skills, accountability ensures that I carry out my responsibility with professionalism and dedication to my patient’s welfare.
Advocacy for Health and Well Being
Advocacy for patients is essential for me as a nurse and continuing my education further. As a new graduate RPN and RN student, I always advocate for my patients, ensuring their rights are respected and that they receive the best treatment possible. I always ensure that I actively listen to what my patients says comprehend their worries and assist them in making judgments regarding their care. As a new nurse I have had instances where my patient cannot comprehend entirely their treatment options and plan and there will be patients in the future, this is why advocating for this patients is essential because I want to ensure that they have the knowledge and authority to make choices consistent with their preference, beliefs, and the the best possible treatment outcome for them. Nurses are patients’ primary point of contact in healthcare systems, making their advocacy even more crucial.
Collaboration
Collaboration means people working together to meet the most beneficial outcome. Collaboration is a significant aspect of healthcare and even as a student. The healthcare team collaborates with each other and the patient and their families to meet the best possible and most beneficial outcome. Collaboration is teamwork, and as a nurse and a student, it is essential to practice this as it promotes better patient care and outcomes and enhances communication within the team and the patient and their families. As a new practicing nurse and a student, working in collaboration with the healthcare team is an opportunity for me to gain knowledge from everyone else and develop critical professional skills and collaboration. I also ensure that patient treatment is thorough, effective, and focused on the person’s requirements. At every level of nursing practice, collaboration is crucial because it fosters personal development and provides high-quality care.
Compassion
Nursing and compassion are words that complement each other; compassion is the heart of nursing. Compassion is essential to patient-centred care, and both professional nurses and student nurses should not undervalue its significance Compassion improves the overall quality of care while also promoting patients’ emotional and psychological well-being and developing deep connections with them. As a student and a new practicing nurse, compassion cultivates trust, empathy, and an awareness of the holistic aspect of caregiving. Compassion is also essential for enhancing patient outcomes, offering consolation, and avoiding burnout. Nursing is a caring profession because of compassion, which is the cornerstone of all high-quality, moral care.
