About Accelerated Critical Care Nursing
The Accelerated Critical Care Nursing program aims to provide training opportunities for existing critical care nurses upskilling between levels of care, newly hired nurses in critical care positions, and current staff nurses with an interest in moving into critical care. Through a combination of theory and hands-on practice, the ACCN program is designed to prepare learners to function effectively in a critical care setting, with learning outcomes and competencies aligned to the CNA certification requirements. Upon the successful completion of the Accelerated Critical Care Nursing program, participants will receive a micro-certification acknowledging the achievement of competencies as defined through specific learning outcomes. The program will also prepare learners who may choose to write the CNA Critical Care Nursing Certification Examination.
The Critical Nursing Role
Critical Care Nurses provide care to acute and critically ill patients. As a highly specialized role within a hospital, knowledge of a critical care nurse ranges from neuroscience to cardiovascular care, respiratory care and more.
