About the Book

Purpose of the Book

The purpose of this book is to help content creators to make their content more accessible. Divided into short, easy-to-digest chapters, each one covers a different aspect of accessibility like the importance of headings, text style, colours, contrast, tables and many others. The content is presented in small chapters that take about 10 minutes to read, with some activities at the end of each chapter. The goal is to make accessibility easy for content creators to fit into their books.

About the OER Lab

OER stands for Open Educational Resources. These are resources that are free to access for anyone, and these resources are often created with open licenses so that anyone can use the information openly, without worry of copyright infringement. The OER Lab is a part of Centennial College that helps with the production of OERs. One of the main purposes of the OER Lab is to work with educators to create OERs for their courses, with the goal of reducing textbook costs for their students.
