Program Learning Resources and Facilities
Labs
In light of the current context and in a bid to prevent a potential second wave of COVID-19 impacting Ontario, Centennial College will, for the most part, continue to teach theory at a distance and online.
Where feasible courses with significant hands-on activity and requiring in-house instruction will be scheduled on our campuses in strict accordance with Public Health protocols.
There may be limited access to Centennial’s computers and specialty labs. For your health and safety, follow any posted protocols (e.g., physical distancing, cleaning, etc.).
Equipment
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
As directed, all students are required to wear the following PPE during lab (to include shops, hangars) activities:
• Canadian Safety Association (CSA) approved steel toed safety shoes/boots (these have the green patch)
• Workman coveralls – (suggested not required)
• Hearing protection – rated for no less than 33db
• Safety glasses – clear lens only (*)
• Masks
(*) General prescription eyewear is NOT considered appropriate eye protection and requires that approved “over the glasses” safety eyewear or prescription safety glasses are worn. [Ref Centennial College Procedure HR100-02]
Additional safety attire
At the discretion of the faculty, students may also be required to:
• Wear appropriate clothing (i.e. no shorts, no loose clothing, etc).
• Remove any jewelry prior to entry into the lab.
• Wear “clean suits” (e.g. in composite labs).
Students who do not have/wear required PPE are not permitted on campus and/or into labs and will be marked absent for the duration of that session.
NO EXCEPTIONS.
