SPELL Table of Contents

We have structured this teaching development resource into 4 modules that can be completed in 12-14 hours.  Each module is based on targeted aspects of post-secondary learning where attention to identified elements can support learning accessibility for all, with specific references to how these tips and strategies can help English Language Learners. The learning applications are designed to be flexible to reflect the diversity of content courses offered in post-secondary institutions.

If completing as part of a micro-credential, begin with Module 1 which sets the foundation and our pedagogical approach. Modules 2-4 can be completed in any sequence.  This resource can also be used independently in part or in whole depending on your context and goals. For example, it could be used to learn some tips and strategies to improve student presentations. The modules are designed to be delivered online, face to face or hybrid. Each module has specific learning outcomes, activation activities, opportunities to build knowledge, apply learning, and assess learning of the module content and concepts. Learning objects include readings, videos, podcasts, questionnaires, charts and interactive H5P activities.

Workshop activities and resources for trainer-led synchronous delivery and task-based assessment options with corresponding rubrics are provided for each module. Word documents and PDFs that contain the content of all the module interactive features are provided in the Teacher’s Notes for use by classroom facilitators when access to the online interactive components is not possible. Each module also has curated suggestions for further learning related to topics covered.

The table of contents outlines main topics covered in each module. Use the icons at the bottom of the pictures to navigate to the module topics or return to the main page.
