Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of the simulation, students will be able to:

Identify information required to perform prescribed nursing skills.
Acquire knowledge and understanding of safety measures related to identifying a patient and performing nursing skills.
Acquire and apply knowledge regarding the process for setting up a sterile field, cleaning an incision, removing staples, and applying steri-strips.
Develop critical thinking skills to mitigate risk to the patient during staple removal and to ensure safe nursing interventions; ergonomics and equipment use.
