Throughout all the stories and experiences ISSOTL members shared with us, there are a few key ideas that stood out to us as representing tensions amongst our participant experiences. While these tensions sometimes bring awareness to contradictions in experiences of belonging, they also offer opportunities for further improving ISSOTL member engagement and interconnection ISSOTL members provided very thoughtful and nuanced perspectives on the organization’s work and where it might go in the future. They were simultaneously appreciative of everything ISSOTL does for the SoTL community while also able to think critically and carefully about how the organization’s work might be enhanced. In this section, we discuss some of our study’s key points for further consideration. We suggest that what might be seen as tensions can act as entry points for reflecting on the values, goals, and future work of ISSOTL.
