This section provides a brief overview of what you can expect to find within this Pressbook. We chose an open access, digital book as the main knowledge dissemination vehicle for our project on belonging in SoTL and ISSOTL for a few reasons:

First, the 2024 International Collaborative Writing Group (ICWG) call for projects emphasized exploring the past, present, and future of ISSOTL through non-traditional outputs. Pressbooks bridges the more traditional scholarly outputs with which we were familiar (journal articles or book chapters) with exciting interactive possibilities.

Second, Pressbooks offers us a way of fully exploring and presenting participant experiences and voices in ways that represent the richness of their words. Throughout this Pressbook, you will both read and hear participants’ perspectives on belonging in SoTL and ISSOTL. You will also get to engage with their words through interactive activities designed with H5P.

Third, a Pressbook provides us the opportunity to invite further reflection and engagement from our readers. At different points in the Pressbook, you will be asked to engage with an activity or reflect on your own experience and how it connects with our major themes. We invite you to consider yourself, your perspectives, and your stories within the context of our study.
