Your Turn: Participation and Collaboration

Take a moment to reflect on your own engagement with ISSOTL.  Consider your past and current level of engagement with some of the initiatives outlined in this section. You may wish to think about which ISSOTL programs (if any) have contributed to your sense of belonging and the role of participation and collaboration within the SoTL community.

Record your thoughts in the Your Turn box provided below. Click the blue arrow to the Export Page to save your thoughts in a document.

Key Takeaways

The ISSOTL conference can be a key opportunity for SoTL-interested faculty and staff to connect with others and become involved in the society.

Belonging is often tied to seeking opportunities that actively foster connection with others and enhance one’s own capacity to pursue SoTL. Taking on leadership roles in service of the society reinforces belonging and investment in ISSOTL and its membership.

Challenges to participation and collaboration exist in relation to both logistical matters (conference format, travel requirements, cost etc…) but also ideological questions around the vision of the society as an international organization.
