Introduction to SoTL

When asked what led them to engage with SoTL, here is what we learned.

Other reasons included the following issues:

  • Seeking connection and collaboration (n=5) by engaging in SoTL
  • Pursuing SoTL as part of their job description or portfolio (n=1)
  • Enhancing student learning experiences (n=1)
  • Working in a discipline that values SoTL (n=1)

Participants conveyed that they learned about SoTL in various ways, but the majority shared that they were introduced to SoTL by a colleague. Others learned about SoTL by reading the literature, attending a SoTL-related conference, through their employment, through their academic discipline, or engaging as a student partner or teaching fellow.
