Academic Integrity and Academic Honesty

Academic integrity means upholding Niagara College’s values with respect to the production of your academic work and the completion of quizzes, tests, and exams.  Read NC’s Academic Honesty policy and be sure you understand your responsibilities as a student. Not knowing the policy will not prevent you from facing disciplinary action.

To help you understand what’s in the official NC policy, ncLibraries and Learning Commons has created a guide to help you learn how to avoid common plagiarism mistakes. Use the guide while working on assignments and projects to make sure that you’re giving credit to authors’ work that are informing your work. Research is building on other peoples’ discoveries and it’s important to give them credit for their work.

If you would like to make sure you truly understand the concepts before setting out on writing your first assignment or if you need to refresh your understanding after getting a few assignments back, go through the Avoiding Plagiarism module from the ncLibraries:
