First Edition:

The first edition of this textbook was developed in collaboration with three undergraduate students, Arlene Cortiguoerra, Kim Nguyen, and Abijah Nwakanma. These students assisted with building the eTextbook, participated in team meetings, designed icons for the textbook, and created original images to convey key concepts. Special thanks to the University of Toronto Mississauga community members, Nagham Abdalahad and undergraduate students in BIO202, who provided comments we incorporated in the second edition of this open textbook.  Also, the first edition included original illustrations developed and created by Deniz Kaya, Evelyn Lockhart, Taeah Kim, Christine Shan, Emily Taylor, Su Min Suh, MSc Graduate students in UTM Biomedical Communications for the course MSC2001Y Visual Representation of Medical Knowledge (Professor Michael Corrin). As well, thank you to Chi-Chun Liu, MSc Graduate student in UTM Biomedical Communications, for sharing his Masters Research Project, Reanimating the Hesperornithiformes, (Supervisor: Dave Mazierski).

Second Edition:

The second edition updates were completed by the editing team in collaboration with UTM students Rini Lukose and Tanya Sharma and were based on comments from BIO202 instructor, Nagham Abdalahad and undergraduate students taking BIO202 in 2019 and 2020. Special thanks to Ruth Thomas and Jaweria Qaiser who analyzed survey data, completed a literature review, and provided recommendations and suggestions for improvement. Thank you to Luka Eskic and Basant Ali for their respective explorations of ethical implications of use of learning analytics ethics and student perspectives regarding learning outcomes within open educational resources. We gratefully acknowledge with thanks the contribution of Heather Mayberry who developed a linked index for this resource.  The photograph on the cover was taken by Stevan Frlog.
