“This piece was created in response to Rhymes for Young Ghouls, a film directed by Jeff Barnaby about a Mi’kmaq youth taking revenge on a sadistic Indian Agent in 1976. I paired Aila (played by K. Devery Jacobs) with a buffalo to reference two things that were taken from us to attempt to destroy our nations: the buffalo and our youth, both of which are integral to our survivance and survival.” Chief Lady Brid, email communication, June 2018.
