Chapter 3: Opioids

This chapter includes the interactive presentation which covers the following subtopics linked to opioids: historical uses, structures, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, and metabolites in biological fluids. A case from the Canadian Legal Information Institute (CanLII) highlights the Drug Recognition Expert Rolling logs and toxicologist report when evaluating opiates, specifically fentanyl.

The podcast is a combination of current news and practical challenges on the topic of opioids in forensic science, in addition to highlights from a CanLII case where this class of drugs played an integral role.
