Strategies and Tips for Achieving Balance Between Mental, Physical, and Emotional Wellness

It is important to remember these aspects of wellness contribute to your overall wellbeing. As a collective, they contribute to your outlook and approach to life and all that it encompasses: self-worth and purpose, relationships with friends and family, connection to the world, and even academics and work.

There are various strategies for improving and enhancing your mental, physical, and emotional wellness. Below, these three pillars are major components in beginning to work on your wellness. Practicing gratitude, self-compassion, and self-acceptance can help our mind, body, and soul.

Additionally, somatic psychology is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on somatic experience, including therapeutic and holistic approaches to the body. As a field of study, somatic psychology has been defined as: ‘the study of the mind/body interface, the relationship between our physical matter and our energy, the interaction of our body structures with our thoughts and actions’.

To practice somatic release, consider doing the following:

  • unclench your jaw
  • drop your shoulders
  • take five deep belly breaths
  • place your hands over your heart and belly
