Enhanced Educational Offerings on Accessibility
The Equity, Inclusion and Anti-Oppression (EIAOP) team continues to embed an intersectional accessibility lens across its training sessions, events, and initiatives. A key highlight was the relaunch of the HEAART 2025 series, featuring a workshop on web accessibility, providing practical guidance on incorporating accessible design into everyday work. The team also deepened its commitment to intersectionality through a cross-program collaboration with AccessMac, the Sexual Violence Prevention& Response Office (SVPRO) and Human Rights and Dispute Resolution Program. Together, they delivered the “Intersectionality Workshop: Race, Disability & Systemic Barriers” during National AccessAbility Week 2025. Grounded in human rights and accessibility frameworks, the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA ), the workshop examined how race and disability intersect to shape access and inclusion in academic and workplace environments, with a focus on systemic barriers impacting racialized people with disabilities.

Faculty Support Model for an Accessible Course (Re)-Design (STEER/R Project)
In response to the STEER/R final report and future recommendations, the MacPherson Institute worked collaboratively with Kate Brown and Student Accessibility Services to develop a Faculty Support Model for an Accessible Course (Re)-Design pilot project, the STEER/R Project Support. The first phase, starting in Summer 2025, focused on time-based accommodations related to assessments in primarily large enrollment undergrad courses, and participation and engagement in smaller seminar-style courses. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Workshops, MacPherson Institute continues to offer a 4-part workshop series on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) twice a year in May and December. Additional UDL-based workshops are offered throughout the year, including for the School of Graduate Studies Deans Council (December 2024) and the IQAP lunch and learn series (March 2025).
